Job Responsibilities
Do you want to lead a unit that works to strengthen and support sports and associations in Gothenburg? Are you a driven and responsible person who enjoys working with both operational and strategic issues? Then you might be the unit manager we are looking for for our unit Grants and Support!
Grants and Support is one of two units that make up the Department of Association Support, whose main mission is to act as support for the association life in the city of Gothenburg in various ways.
The support is provided, among other things, through processing association grants, allocation of the city's hall times, and needs descriptions for new production. The department works to support the association life in its development and to ensure that more children and young people have the opportunity for a meaningful leisure time within the framework of the association life. The department also has a coordinating responsibility for association grants in the city.
The main responsibilities of Grants and Support are to process association grants but also to develop the administration's work with various forms of support measures, training, etc. Within the framework of the unit, there is a local mediation service that works to ensure that more associations have access to operational premises. The unit must create conditions for the grants distributed by the administration to reach the activities they are intended for, which requires clear guidelines and routines. Control and review are part of the operations. To reduce administration both internally in the administration and for the associations, an active effort is made to streamline the processing processes, where the unit manager has an important role in being proactive. The unit manager ensures that the unit provides good service, positive interactions, and a collaborative and trust-based approach.
As a unit manager, you will lead 17 employees and report directly to the department head and be part of the department's management team.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Managerial responsibility regarding finance, personnel, and work environment
- Leading the unit's employees with a close and trust-based leadership style
- Development of the operations that are in constant change as the administration's mission grows and the needs and expectations of the association life change
- Collaboration with other parts of the administration, various functions in the city, as well as with federations and associations
- Conducting analyses, follow-ups, evaluations, and environmental monitoring
- Being part of the department's management team and actively contributing to the department's governance and operational development

We are looking for someone with a university or college education in a relevant field for the operations. You have documented experience of being a manager or have worked in a leading role and can demonstrate good results from previous roles. We see that you have solid experience from working with/in collaboration with the association life and thus have a good understanding of the conditions of the association life. If you have experience working with the distribution of association grants and public operations, we consider it a merit. You have good administrative skills and high IT maturity.
The position requires a commitment to leadership and change management, as the unit develops in line with the growth of the administration and the changing conditions of the association life. In your leadership style, you are a role model and share our values of a norm-critical approach and aim to promote an inclusive and non-discriminatory working method to offer equal service and services.
In our assessment, we use Gothenburg City's leadership criteria. We place great importance on your personal qualities and competencies.
